CJ shows interest in acquiring SM entertainment

I just came across with the recent news about SM entertainment.

SM entertainment is one of the biggest entertainments in Korea.

CJ is one of the biggest companies in Korea and CJ ENM is an entertainment sector of the CJ group.

 

I did not believe that it would be possible for CJ ENM to acquire SM entertainment, because I thought SM Entertainment has their own unique content.

 

The today's news show that their contract(MOU) will be completed 22nd of October in their earliest. However, both companies claimed that this is not true. Yes, they are currently discussing regarding merger, but nothing has been decided.

Many K-pop fans, like myself worry about losing SM's own colour, however, some fans are very glad to hear about this news because SM artists would have more opportunities to be on various movies and shows based on CJ ENM's various platforms.
